Jill Day - 19th March 2023

Four months and still not a day has gone by when Jill hasn't been the first thing on my mind when I wake. Jill Day is always always going to be a reflective and emotional one, but I love how her loved ones are all choosing to celebrate her life, rather than just focusing on the sadness of a situation that none of us will ever understand or can change.

I started my Jill day with an early 5am 5km run at Mackay Harbour with my Dad, this is becoming a regular Dad/Daughter Sunday occurence.

I then went to Finch Hatton (which is about an hour drive out of Mackay) with my Mum, sister and niece to check out some new flea markets. Unfortunately this was a total bust, as the market were SO tiny, it took less than 5mins to walk around the stalls 🤣 Safe to say we won't be going to those markets again, but as we all said, you don't know until you try and in true Jill spirit it's all about saying yes to new experiences, even if they don't all pan out!

I later went for a Sunday session at Seabreeze Hotel with my good friend Jaclyn. It was a ridiculously hot day in Mackay, but I put on a Jill inspired dress that I recently purchased, listened to some live music and Jac and I had a little cheers to Jill.

I met Jac through work 5 years ago and lucky to call her one of my closest friends. Before Jill passed, I had told both Jac and Jill (no pun intended🤣), on multiple occasions, how I would love them to meet one day. Jac is Scottish, and has done so much travelling, and has been to quite a few places I know Jill had been to, so I just know they would of had so much in common and would of been fast friends. Sadly I never got the opportunity to introduce them, but I have and will continue to share Jill stories with her. Jac's been such a supportive friend these past few months, and I appreciated her company on this Jill Day and her help in polishing off a bottle of wine.
