It took 3 attempts to achieve this one!
Attempt 1.
As I went to film my post for No.61 'Learn the Auslan alphabet' on the 7th of April, it started pouring down rain! So, I thought, seeing I’m in my finest Frock Friday dress with zero plans, what a great opportunity and perfect way to end the day. However, by the time I finished my many takes of filming, the rain had stopped! It was still pretty overcast though, so I proceeded to wait for the next few hours into the night for more rain, even saying to the Heavens “Come on Jill, just bring me 5mins of rain!”. But it was just not to be.
Attempt 2.
I tried again on another Frock Friday 12th May. I woke up to heavy rain, but seeing as I spent an uncomfortable night sleeping with curlers in my hair for my Frock Friday photo, I decided to get dolled up first for my Frock Friday photo before dancing out in the rain. But once again, by the time I had done this, the rain had stopped and although again it remained overcast for the rest of the day with me on rain watch duty, it just would not rain. It was Groundhog Day all over again.
Attempt 3.
But today was the day! July 15th. It was intermittently overcast and lightly raining throughout the day and then finally at around 5pm some heavier rain came down. So, I threw on my gum boots and danced to Tina Turner's Nut Bush City Limits.
Why did I choose the Nutbush dance? Because I always remember spending a day out with Jill and her family on their boat back when we were in Primary School. I don’t recall too much about that day, but I distinctly remember dancing the Nutbush with her on the deck of their boat 👯♀️🛥️
Jill, Dannii & I also danced the Nutbush in the photo below at the CQU Community Christmas Ball we attended in 2016.
I like to think that Jill was looking down on me today and with Tina Turner's recent passing, perhaps dancing the Nutbush with Tina herself. So please enjoy my video below of me being silly and dancing the Nutbush in rain!
