#70. Paint Jill-themed rocks and leave them for people to find.

Well these turned out uglier than I could ever of imagined, but points for trying right? I consider myself a creative person but just not an artistic person. When I stumbled across this pebble kit from BigW, I thought ‘Perfect! I don’t have to go foraging for rocks and it comes with paints too’. I don’t know what I was expecting from a $10 pebble kit but I was slightly disappointed with the size of the pebbles and also the paint didn’t even include one of the primary colours red! But, I was determined to make it work.

One side of the rocks are obvious, spelling out Jill’s name with the year of her birth and passing. I’ll explain the others because my art to put it bluntly sucks.

  • Santa Hat 🎅🏻 To represent our Santa photos.

  • Sunflower 🌻 That looks nothing like a sunflower but Jill loved sunflowers, and I also just think a sunflower represents her to a tee.

  • Tanzanian flag 🇹🇿 Her 2nd home. I wasn’t even going to attempt an Aussie flag with the little canvas space I had.

  • Two stick figure girls with BFF underneath 👯‍♀️ Obvious nod to our friendship but turned out looking more like two deformed stars.

  • Beach 🏝️ Because Jill loved the beach. Again not my finest artistry.

  • Heart 💗 To represent everyone’s love and heartbreak in losing Jill. Also if I’m being completely honest because a heart was simple and I was getting impatient.

Dad accompanied me as I hid these along the Parkrun trail here at Mackay Botanical Gardens. Jill never got to run the Parkrun trail here in Mackay but we did the one in Yeppoon together back in 2017when I visited. I like the idea of someone being able to find all six pebbles to piece them together, however given their size it’s highly likely that none of them will ever be found 🤣
