On the official Jill List, this was supposed to be 'Learn by heart the capital cities and flags of all the countries Jill visited in her lifetime'. I thought there is no way I can retain that kind of information in my head, and also I didn't think I would have time to learn them either.
Apparently, I did have enough time though, to create my own little 'Fun with Flag's' series inspired by the tv series The Big Bang Theory. I always like to put my own creative spin on things, and when I came up with this concept, I thought it would be easy enough to do. I actually underestimated the time and effort involved in this one, but I had a lot of fun along the way.
Tessa really had done the hard yards of researching and compiling the list of all the countries Jill had travelled to, and she was kind enough to share the list with me. What was hard, was trying to find 'fun' facts for each of the 58 flags. The ones I most struggled to find really interesting facts for were Vanuatu, Spain & Nigeria. Then there were also some struggles with pronunciation, and I'm sure I butchered the names of some places along the way too. I can't tell you home many times I looked up 'How to pronounce...'
What I really enjoyed is going through Jill's social accounts to try to match photos to the countries she visited. I did struggled to find photos for some countries, but I think they must of been places she traveled to prior to her having social accounts, or when she utilised her social accounts less. When you say 58 countries it sounds and is a lot! But when you actually go through some of her photos and see the places and landmarks she visited, it really hits home just how incredible this feat is and it is so impressive. I can only imagined what number that would of climbed to had she been given the chance.
I hope those who followed along enjoyed my silly little videos and even perhaps found it a little educational. If I've learnt anything this past year it's to not take yourself too seriously and have fun. Below are each of the episodes.
