So again, I’ve taken some liberty on this one and didn’t do a Pottery Wheel class, but instead just a normal pottery class. I’ll leave the Ghost re-enactments to Anna & Tessa. Mum was kind enough to do this adventure with me. We attended the class called ‘Clay & Coffee’ on the 18th of March, where we soon learnt that pottery is harder than you would think, and that neither one of us are going to be greatly skilled potterers (is that a word?) any time soon. Though I think Mum was more skilled at it than myself. I think I am more of a creative person rather than artistic. But we had lots of fun doing it and enjoyed some scones afterwards.
I will say I thoroughly enjoyed having a mother/daughter morning outing. As the saying goes ‘A Mother is your first friend, your best friend, your forever friend’. I know not everyone has this type of relationship with their mother, so I am blessed that I do, and I know Jill was blessed in this way too. Mum too was affected by Jill’s passing, not only because she loved Jill and watched us grow up together, but as a parent I think she can only imagine the pain that Bron and Vic are going through. I know we both wish so badly that things were different, and Bron & Jill could have been sitting next to us at the class. So, time spent with my Mama is not lost on me.
But back to the pottery! Coincidentally on Jill Day, the 19th of April, I was able to collect our freshly glazed creations. Not sure the exact purpose of some of our creations, but they don’t (I hope) resemble a penis - so mission accomplished!
Mum's creations.
My ugly mug. It's hard to tell but '4 Jill' is engraved on the bottom and a dolphin imprint inside of the mug just because.
Is it a tea light candle holder? A finger bowl? An egg holder? Who knows? 🤷🏼♀️ The possibilities are endless! I included a sun imprint inside because the Sun is bright and happy like Jill, and again it's hard to make out, but there is imprinting around the sides of two naked girls holding hands, as this was the closest stamp, I could find to represent friendship. I actually think Jill would get a kick out of that.
A ring holder. My rings as props help emphasize what it is. Again, hard to see but '101 Adventures' with a heart is engraved. Ran out of space for '4 Jill' and engraving is hard without destroying it. While it does not look like a penis, it does look a bit like a tit from a bird's view, which again Jill would love.
Another mystery piece. A wall decor? A cookie plate? An oversized coaster? 🤷🏼♀️ I did like the stamp on this one with Jill in mind, if you can't make it out it says 'Believe there is good in the world' with two sunflowers in the word good.
So those are my ugly creations. I am now taking orders 🤣
