44. Make a birdhouse

My woodworking skills are non existent, so I found myself a birdhouse kit online. The age on the box is 5+ so how hard could it be?

Well, it was still pretty challenging. There wasn't much to it, but the assembly was awkward and my hammering abilities are poor. I also split the wood with the nails in a couple of places, but they are in the inside, so only the birds will know 🤫 At one point I did think of abandoning the project but I pushed through.

It's far from perfect, but I jazzed it up a little by staining the wood and adding the hanging bird. Then the final touches were adding two engraved plaques - 'Jill's Birdhouse' and 'No.44' for this adventure number.

In the end I was happy with how it turned out despite it's many flaws. If you're interested as to why this was on the adventure list, check out Tessa's blog where it explains the sweet reason and where you'll also see a far superior birdhouse to my own. https://www.101adventuresforjill.com/post/44-build-a-birdhouse

I ended up gifting it to my Mum & Dad, because after my recent cat catching bird incident, I don't think it would be wise to try to attract more birds. I think it looks nice in their yard and I can't wait to see if any birds will nest in it 🤞🏻
