I love items on this list that were borrowed from Jill's original list. I particularly wanted to do this one because I happened to be one of the lucky recipients of her 5 letters.
As there is nothing too scandalous in the letter, I'm sure Jill would not mind me sharing its contents. As standard with anything Jill related, there are elements in the letter that are comical and typical Jill. I will treasure this letter always.
I also made a point of writing back to her too. I'd be curious to know who else she chose to write to.
When trying to decide who I would write my 5 letters to, it did not feel right not including Jill in this list. So, I wrote her a letter too. My cat helped, and by helped, I mean sat on the pages I'd already written while trying to eat my pen and paper.
Having nowhere to send it, I thought I would make it a message in a bottle and send it out to sea. So, I bought a cheap $10 bottle of Rosé. I did contemplate tipping out the contents, in order just to have the bottle, as I'm not much of a drinker, but wasting alcohol would have mortified Jill, even if it was a $10 bottle, so instead I had a glass a night over 5 nights in her honour.
Once empty, I then re-corked the bottle and sealed it with wax and dropped it at high tide into the Pioneer River here in Mackay.
Note: As I know Jill was environmentally conscious, and for anyone wondering, I googled and it says glass bottles don't hurt the environment.
Clearly letter writing is a thing of the past, as it was very hard to find stationery sets and I was limited for choice. But I ended up finding the exact same set Jill used for her letters at my local newsagent, so it was meant to be. I hope the 5 people I sent letters to enjoyed receiving mail that wasn't a bill.
Omg this is all so thoughtful!! What are the chances of you finding the exact same stationary set?!
