Due to my fear of needles, I didn’t get my ears pierced until I was 16. I told Jill and Jill only that I wanted to get them done. I didn’t tell anyone else just in case I chickened out and also, she was the only one I knew wouldn’t judge me if I cried, something I was genuinely concerned about. Jill was so excited, and she decided she too would get her 2nd ones done with me in support. So, we planned a shopping trip to Rocky. The anticipation is always the worst for me, so I told her I needed to do it first up. So, we planned to go to a hairdresser that did piercings in Hill St, Yeppoon before catching the bus to Rocky. Of course, the hairdresser was unexpectedly closed! Jill sensing me chickening out, was quick to readjust our plans and tell me we will just catch the bus to Rocky and find somewhere else straight away. And so that’s what we did. We went to Shopping Fair and walked into Stefan’s and together we got out ears pierced. It was completely fine, didn’t hurt at all and no tears. I always appreciated her doing this with me and it’s a core memory for sure.
So, when I saw this on the list, I knew I had to do it. Not nearly as afraid as I once was, I still don’t like anticipation of things, so I decided while I was visiting Rocky that if I walked in somewhere and they could do it on the spot I would do it. I was hoping to return to Stefan’s but unfortunately, they have since closed down, but I still went back to Shopping Fair aka Stocklands. I went straight to Skin Kandy and they were able to fit me in pretty much straight away. I was going to get a helix piercing but the lady convinced me to go for a flat piercing instead (apparently, I have a good ear for a flat piercing, and she said she thought it would look really pretty). This time I didn’t have my best mate with me 😢, so I had to be brave on my own. Much like the first time, it was completely fine, didn’t hurt and no tears 🤣
I’m really happy with it and I think Jill would be super proud of me.
Also got a little sign from Jill while I was at the store. Sunflowers were Jill's favourite flowers and if there was ever a flower to describe/represent Jill, a sunflower would be it. So whenever Jill's family and friends see Sunflowers, it's a beautiful reminder/sign that Jill is with us. As I was waiting to get my piercing, staring straight in front of me was a picture of a sunflower. I took it as a sign from Jill that she approved of me getting the piercing. I did choose to ignore it was hanging under the nipple piercings 🤔, I mean I'm adventurous but not that adventurous 🙅🏼♀️🤣
Hahahahah omg!! Sunflower pic under the nip bling!! Great job Cassie!! What a beautiful memory 🥹
A beautiful story Cass. Good on you for taking the plunge. Looks lovely 🥰
